Acidity Treatment in Ludhiana

“Acidity” usually describes burning, a sour taste or stomach contents moving upward. Heartburn is the burning feeling; acid reflux is the upward movement; GERD describes repeated or troublesome reflux that may need ongoing medical assessment. A single episode differs from symptoms that recur, disturb sleep or come with swallowing difficulty, vomiting, weight loss or uncertain chest pain.

02 · Recognition

Name the pattern clearly

Acidity, heartburn and reflux describe related but different experiences

People may say “seene me jalan,” “khatti dakar” or “tezaab banna.” Note where burning occurs, whether food comes upward, triggers and frequency.

Direct answer: Acid reflux occurs when stomach contents move upward into the oesophagus. Heartburn is a burning symptom that reflux may cause. Repeated, bothersome reflux or complications may be described as GERD. Meal timing, lying down after eating, certain foods, medicines and health factors may contribute. New or uncertain symptoms should not be self-labelled.

01

Burning

A burning feeling behind the breastbone or in the upper abdomen may occur after meals or when lying down.

02

Regurgitation

A sour taste, liquid or food coming upward and throat irritation fit reflux more than ordinary gas.

03

Timing

Late meals, large meals, bending or lying down may reveal a pattern, but triggers differ between people.

“Acidity” is a broad patient word, not a precise diagnosis. Note whether you mean chest burning, upper-abdominal burning, sour belching, food coming up, throat symptoms or pain; each changes the safety and assessment route.

03 · Safety

Urgent, timely and routine routes

Know when not to wait

Chest discomfort must not be minimised as “just acidity.” New, severe or uncertain pain needs the safer medical route, especially with breathlessness, sweating, faintness or spreading pain.

Urgent medical care

  • Seek emergency medical care for new, severe or uncertain chest pain, especially with breathlessness, sweating, faintness, or pain spreading to the arm, jaw, neck or back.
  • Seek urgent care for vomiting blood, black stool, severe weakness or significant breathing difficulty.

Timely assessment

  • Arrange prompt review for difficulty or pain when swallowing, persistent vomiting, unexplained weight loss, anaemia symptoms or repeated night symptoms.
  • Repeated reflux despite self-care, frequent medicine use or symptoms that are changing should be assessed.

Routine consultation

  • Track meal timing, posture, sour taste, regurgitation and sleep disturbance when symptoms recur without warning signs.
  • Discuss whether medicines, weight change, pregnancy or another health condition may affect the pattern.

04 · Distinction and digestive lens

Similar words, different routes

Burning, gas and heaviness should not be collapsed into one problem

A webpage cannot distinguish cardiac pain, reflux or another cause from symptoms alone. The dominant pattern decides the safer route.

Gas and bloating

Gas and bloating

Fullness, distension and trapped-gas sensations without sour taste or upward flow belong in the gas-and-bloating guide.

Indigestion and heaviness

Indigestion and heaviness

Post-meal heaviness or slow-digestion discomfort without clear reflux belongs in the indigestion guide.

Chest pain

Chest pain

Uncertain chest pain is a medical safety question first. Do not use food triggers or antacid response to rule out another cause.

Traditional educational lens

Amlapitta and meal rhythm

A way to organise questions—not proof, diagnosis or emergency triage.

Traditional lens

Ayurvedic discussion may use Amlapitta as a lens for sourness, burning, meal timing and digestive tolerance.

What it does not prove

A traditional label is not the same as GERD, gastritis, ulcer disease or a cardiac assessment.

Pattern questions

Meal size, timing, sleep position, appetite, bowel pattern, stress and medicines may be reviewed together.

Clinical boundary

Swallowing difficulty, bleeding, weight loss, persistent vomiting or uncertain chest pain can require conventional testing or referral.

05 · Care and realistic expectations

Assessment before assumptions

Care is guided by frequency, triggers and warning signs

First steps include observing meal timing, posture and personal triggers. Broad food bans are rarely useful, and persistent symptoms need review.

1

Map the episodes

Record meals, timing, posture, sour taste, regurgitation, night symptoms and medicines used.

2

Adjust carefully

Discuss realistic changes such as meal timing or avoiding lying down soon after eating, matched to the person’s pattern.

3

Review persistence

Frequent symptoms, swallowing problems or poor response may need examination, testing or another clinician’s input.

The goal is a clearer pattern and safer next step—not a promise that reflux will never return.

Some people improve with routine changes; others need medicine review or testing. Response depends on the cause and health context.

An Ayurvedic perspective can be included without assuming Ayurveda is the only route.

After the consultation

What a personalised plan may include

For recurring acidity, the consultation comes first — never the other way round. Where appropriate after consultation, a personalised plan may include clinician-selected Ayurvedic medicines, diet guidance and follow-up.

  • Clinician-selected Ayurvedic medicines, only when advised for you
  • Food and daily-routine guidance that fits your actual day
  • A follow-up plan, with adjustment if something is not settling
  • A clear referral if the concern needs another kind of doctor

Consultation is ₹500, and it is confirmed only after we agree the concern is something this clinic should handle.

Medicines are not sold or recommended before a consultation. The first call or WhatsApp reply is booking guidance, not diagnosis.

07 · Questions

Seven direct answers

Questions people often ask privately

Educational references: NIDDK — Acid reflux and GERD · NIDDK — Symptoms and causes. These links support reviewer traceability and do not diagnose an individual symptom.

What causes acidity?

Meal timing, lying down after eating, foods, medicines and health factors may contribute. Repeated symptoms deserve review rather than one assumed cause.

What is the difference between acidity and acid reflux?

“Acidity” is a broad everyday term. Acid reflux specifically means stomach contents moving upward; heartburn is the burning symptom that reflux may cause.

Is heartburn the same as GERD?

Not always. Occasional heartburn can happen without GERD. GERD refers to repeated or troublesome reflux, or reflux that leads to complications over time.

Khatti dakar and seene me jalan—what should I note?

Note when it happens, whether food or liquid comes upward, what you ate, whether you lay down, and whether swallowing, breathing or exertion affects the symptom.

Can I keep taking antacids every day?

Frequent use should be reviewed, particularly when symptoms are severe, recurrent or changing. Relief does not explain the cause.

When is chest burning urgent?

Treat new, severe or uncertain chest pain as a medical safety issue, especially with breathlessness, sweating, faintness or pain spreading to the arm, jaw, neck or back.

When to consult for acidity?

Arrange assessment when reflux recurs, disturbs sleep, needs frequent medicine, affects swallowing or comes with vomiting, weight loss, bleeding signs or another concerning change.
