Skin & hair · an Ayurvedic lens

What you see begins below the surface

Skin is the surface you see. A hair begins in a follicle below it. Ayurveda adds another lens—Rasa, Rakta, Twak, Bhrajaka Pitta and Kesha—to think about nourishment, visible change and time.

Twak + Bhrajaka Pitta · the transforming surface

This is a traditional functional model—not a literal skin section, follicle test or explanation for acne, rashes, pigmentation or hair loss.

From within
Rasa and Rakta represent nourishment reaching the visible surface.
At the threshold
Twak meets the outside world; Bhrajaka expresses transformation here.
Over time
Kesha follows a rhythm of growth, rest and release.

Five lenses · one living boundary

Three hairs emerging from a layered scalp A clear scalp cutaway shows three hair shafts above the skin. The larger centre hair continues below the skin inside a follicle to a rounded bulb. Five selectable Ayurvedic lenses animate nourishment, a current beneath the scalp, surface change, renewal through the layers and movement from root to hair tip. Labels are outside the moving diagram.

Choose one lens

The whole threshold stays alive; your chosen idea comes forward.

01 · Rasa — nourish the root 02 · Rakta — move through scalp 03 · Bhrajaka — light the surface 04 · Twak — renew toward surface 05 · Kesha — travel root to tip
Traditional focus · Bhrajaka Pitta seated at Twak Bhrajaka · transformation at the surface The moving gold seam represents the skin as a place of visible change. It is a traditional metaphor, not a measure of pigment, temperature or disease.

Static view: nourishment rises from within, a transforming current crosses the skin, and hair follows its own visible cycle.

In plain language
The skin is not just a covering. Ayurveda treats it as a changing boundary between the person and the outside world; hair adds a slower rhythm of growth and release.
Name and meaning
Twak means skin. Bhrajaka Pitta is the traditional Pitta associated with the skin’s visible colour and lustre; kesha means hair.
A phrase people use
“Khoon saaf nahin hai”—the blood is not clean—is often blamed for acne, itching or dull skin. It is a loose saying, not a medical finding.
Myth check · not every problem is “heat”
Pitta is not simply body heat, and hair fall is not a score of strength. Persistent rashes, infected skin, changing moles or sudden and patchy hair loss need proper assessment.

Start with what you can notice

Which change brought you here?

Skin and hair concerns overlap. Choose the closest starting point; the purpose is to guide the conversation, not to diagnose the cause from a card.

Not sure which card fits? One useful line is enough: “My scalp has been itchy for three months,” or “This patch keeps returning in the same place.”

Ask which route fits

Safety changes the route

Some changes should not wait for a routine skin consultation

Emergency now Sudden swelling of the lips, mouth, tongue or throat; trouble breathing; throat tightness; faintness or confusion.
Same-day care Painful, hot and swollen skin—especially when it is spreading, near the eye, or comes with fever or feeling very unwell.
Prompt review A new or changing mole, a mark that bleeds or crusts, a sore that does not heal, pus-filled scalp sores, or sudden patchy hair loss.

These routes need ordinary medical assessment. Do not delay emergency care while waiting for a clinic message.

Safety wording cross-checked with NHS anaphylaxis, cellulitis and melanoma guidance, plus American Academy of Dermatology hair-loss guidance.

A useful description beats a product list

Six clues make the pattern easier to understand

You do not need medical words. These six ordinary details help separate a sudden change, a repeating pattern and something that needs a different route.

01 · PLACE

Where is it?

Scalp, hairline, face, folds, hands, feet, one patch or several places?

02 · START

What changed first?

Itching, shedding, redness, pain, scaling, a spot, a colour change or a new product?

03 · TIME

How long has it stayed?

Days, months or years—and does it settle, spread or return in the same place?

04 · FEEL

What does it feel like?

Itchy, sore, burning, tender, numb—or noticeable only when you look?

05 · PATTERN

How is the hair changing?

General shedding, widening part, receding line, breakage or one clear patch?

06 · CONTEXT

What else changed?

Illness, stress, weight, periods, medicines, hair treatment, diet or work exposure?

Skin and hair consultation in Ludhiana

The surface is visible. The cause still needs a history.

A first consultation should cover the exact place, timeline, sensation, spread, products already tried, medicines, recent illness, stress, sleep, digestion and other health changes. The skin or scalp may need to be examined directly.

Ayurveda uses Rasa, Rakta, Twak, Bhrajaka Pitta and Kesha as traditional ways of thinking about nourishment, circulation, surface change and hair over time. They are not laboratory findings and do not replace dermatology, blood tests, biopsy or urgent referral when those are needed.

01

See the pattern

Where it began, how it behaves, what returns and whether hair, scalp and skin changed together.

02

Check the boundary

Infection signs, a changing mole, sudden patchy loss, scarring or severe inflammation can change the route.

03

Explain the next step

Care guidance, direct examination, testing or referral—with the reason stated clearly.

Before the conversation

Bring the timeline—not a bag of every product

Four rough notes are enough. Keep them with you. There is no public symptom form, and private photographs should only be shared if the clinic asks for them through the agreed route.

The pattern nowWhere it is, whether it spreads, and what makes it better or worse.

Ayurvedic skin and hair doctor in Ludhiana

How to choose, when every product calls itself the best

Search “best shampoo for hair fall”, “anti hair fall shampoo”, “best anti-dandruff shampoo”, “best skin specialist in Ludhiana” or “pigmentation cream” and almost every result is a product with a superlative attached. Those are advertising phrases, not verified rankings. BharatClinic does not make that claim about itself.

And one thing we will not do at all. We do not offer fairness, whitening or skin-lightening treatment, and we do not describe darker skin as a problem to be corrected. Pigmentation, melasma and dark marks after acne are real medical concerns and we treat them as such—evenness and settling the cause, not changing the colour you were born with. If a clinic is selling you a shade, it is selling you something else entirely.

A named doctorA registered person with a qualification you can check—not a brand name on a tube.
Examination before prescriptionSkin and scalp need looking at. Anyone naming a cream or shampoo before seeing the area is selling, not treating.
A stated feeKnown before you arrive. Ours is ₹500, and only after we confirm your concern suits us.
No regrowth or permanent-clearance promisesNo baldness cure, no “spotless in 30 days”, no reversal of greying.
Honesty about chronic conditionsEczema and psoriasis are managed, not cured. A clinic that says otherwise is not being straight with you.
Willingness to referA changing mole, a non-healing sore or sudden patchy loss needs a dermatologist—and should be named as such.

Where to find us

Two branches in Ludhiana

Skin and hair consultations run at both. Come to whichever is easier. Patients also reach us from Jalandhar, Mohali, Patiala, Khanna, Moga and Chandigarh. A phone consultation can begin the history, but skin and scalp usually need to be seen—so where an examination is needed, we will say so rather than keep booking calls.

Before you buy another tube

Creams, shampoos, oils—and the one warning that matters most

Almost everyone arrives with a bag. Three shampoos, two oils, a cream a chemist recommended, something a cousin sent from abroad, and a tube with the label rubbed off.

“Best shampoo for hair fall”, “anti hair fall shampoo”, “anti-dandruff shampoo”, “pigmentation cream”—these are among the most searched phrases in Indian skincare, and nearly every result is a product page. We will not name a cream, shampoo, oil, brand or dose here, because flaking from a dry scalp and flaking from a scalp disease look similar and need opposite treatment.

The warning: steroid creams bought without a prescription. This is the single most common avoidable skin problem in India. Combination creams sold over the counter for “fungal infection”, “dark spots” or “glow” frequently contain strong steroids. They work for a fortnight and then the skin becomes thin, red, sensitive and dependent—and the original infection spreads and becomes far harder to treat. If a cream cleared something quickly and it returned worse when you stopped, bring that tube with you. That story is common and it is treatable, but not while the cream continues.

Changing products every fortnight makes the pattern unreadable. Skin takes weeks to respond to anything. Four products in a month means nobody—including a doctor—can tell what helped and what irritated.

Anything sold with a guarantee, a fixed number of days, spotless skin or regrowth should be put down.

Hair oils are not the villain or the answer. Oiling suits some scalps and worsens flaking and acne along the hairline in others. Whether it suits yours depends on what your scalp is actually doing.

Food, sleep, water, stress and how you wash genuinely matter—but which of them matters for your pattern is a conversation, not a list. The advice for hormonal acne is not the advice for a fungal rash.

Questions people ask

Clear answers before another experiment

A page can help you notice the pattern. It cannot identify the cause from appearance alone.

Is all hair fall caused by weakness or vitamin deficiency?

No. Hair shedding and hair loss have several possible patterns. Recent illness, stress, inherited patterns, scalp disease, medicines and nutritional or hormonal factors may all need different questions.

Does dandruff always mean a dry scalp?

No. Flaking can occur with oiliness, irritation and several scalp conditions. Repeated scratching and changing products without knowing the pattern can make the picture harder to read.

Does acne mean the blood is “dirty”?

No. “Khoon saaf nahin hai” is a common phrase, not a medical diagnosis. Acne deserves an ordinary skin history and examination rather than a cleansing claim.

Can one oil stop every kind of hair fall?

No. An oil may affect how the scalp or hair feels, but it cannot identify or correct every cause of thinning, breakage, shedding or patchy loss.

Does Ayurveda call every skin problem “Pitta” or heat?

No. Pitta is a broader traditional functional idea, not a thermometer reading. Infection, allergy, inflammatory disease and changing skin lesions still need ordinary medical assessment.

Can an online consultation assess a skin or hair concern?

It can begin the history and may help decide the next step. Some concerns need direct examination, a closer scalp or skin view, testing or a dermatologist.

How much hair fall is normal in a day?

Losing some hair every day is normal—hair grows in cycles and a proportion is always shedding. What matters more than counting is change: whether your parting is widening, whether the ponytail feels thinner, whether the shedding has clearly increased over weeks, and whether the scalp is visible where it was not before. A sudden increase two to three months after an illness, fever, surgery, delivery or a period of heavy stress is a recognised pattern and often recovers.

Does dandruff cause hair fall?

Indirectly, it can contribute—so “can dandruff cause hair fall” is a fair question, and the honest answer is: partly. An inflamed, itchy scalp and repeated scratching make hair more likely to break and shed, and treating the scalp often reduces the shedding. But dandruff is not usually the whole reason for thinning, so it is worth checking what else is going on rather than assuming one explains the other.

Baal jhadne ka karan kya hai? Hair fall in hindi—kyu hota hai?

The usual contributors are inherited pattern thinning, a recent illness or fever, nutritional gaps including iron, thyroid problems, hormonal changes, scalp conditions, certain medicines, and severe stress. Several often overlap. Which one applies to you comes from the history and from looking at the scalp—not from the amount of hair on the pillow.

Safed baal kyu aate hain? Can early greying be reversed?

What causes white hair at early age is largely genetics and family pattern. When people ask which vitamin deficiency causes white hair, the honest answer is vitamin B12—and it is worth checking, because where a deficiency is found, correcting it is worth doing for your health regardless. Thyroid problems and smoking are also recognised contributors. But no honest clinic promises to reverse greying, and we will not.

Are eczema and psoriasis curable? Are they contagious?

Is eczema contagious? No—and neither is psoriasis. You cannot catch them or pass them to your family, and that matters because the social discomfort is often worse than the itching. They are also long-term conditions that are managed rather than cured. Periods of clear skin are realistic; a permanent cure is not, and anyone promising one is not being straight with you.

Why do pimples keep coming on my forehead? Does acne mean dirty blood?

No, blood has nothing to do with it. The causes of pimples on forehead are usually ordinary ones: oil at the hairline, hair products, sweat under caps or helmets—a real factor in this city—and general acne tendency. Hormonal patterns, some medicines and heavy cosmetics also matter. It responds to a proper history, not to blood purification.

Khujli that keeps returning—is it allergy or fungal?

They look similar and need different treatment, which is exactly why guessing is expensive. Recurring ring-shaped itchy patches in skin folds are often fungal and very common in this climate; they also spread within a household. The most important thing is what we said above—an over-the-counter combination cream can make a fungal infection dramatically worse while appearing to help at first.

The smallest useful next step

One visible change is enough to begin

You can say, “My hair has been shedding for two months,” or “This itchy patch returns in the same place.” You do not need to choose a diagnosis or treatment first.
